Benton City No Spray Program

Every April, the Benton City Public Works Department begins spraying to control weeds along city roads (weather permitting) and within its alleyways. NEW this year, roads that do not have curb & sidewalk will be sprayed 2-4 feet from the edge of the pavement in order to control encroachment of grass and plant growth on the asphalt surface. We will continue to spray the entire width of alleyways.  Spraying of noxious weeds and roadside vegetation is done throughout the remainder of year.  For homeowners who do not want chemical sprays adjacent to their property, and who are willing to assume responsibility for controlling weeds along the roadway, a No-Spray Agreement may be entered into with the City.

We ask for our citizens' participation to continue the success. of this program.  As a property owner/resident, you may elect to enter into an annual agreement with Benton City whereby the City will not spray herbicides along the roadway in front of your property or in the alleyway behind or beside your property.  In exchange, you agree to be responsible for vegetation control on your property frontage and in the alleyway.

If you wish to participate, please complete a No Spray Agreement and return to the City by March 15th.  Once your property is added to the No-Spray Program, a new agreement must be submitted each year.

Return the completed agreement via mail to the following address:

City of Benton City
Attn: No Spray Program

PO Box 70

Benton City, WA 99320

Once the City receives a completed agreement, a City worker will be in contact with you for sign placement.  Please contact City Hall if you have any questions at 509-588-3322.
